A Genius Idea: Let Song Lyrics Do the Talking in iMessage
Do you talk in lyrics? That is, are you inclined to take words from a song and insert them in conversations, especially ones where the other party is likely to catch your drift and recognize your musical reference? Then, you’re sure to be delighted, because ready or not, here comes the new iMessage app of the popular lyric annotation site Genius.
Let's get lyrical
At the heart of Genius’ iMessage app in iOS 10 is the so-called “lyric message.” A lyric message is a sort of shareable card that shows a snippet from a song against a static or animated background.
Create lyric messages
You yourself can create the lyric message that you’d like to send. Just search for the song that you’d like to extract from, highlight the lyric you’d like to use, and then choose from the available backgrounds or take your own photo (or even a selfie, because why not?). Once you’re satisfied with your lyric message, tap Insert and send.
Reuse recent items
There probably are quite a few lyrics that you frequently use in conversations. And with Genius, you need not create a new lyric message every time you want to reuse any of them. That’s because Genius’ iMessage app lets you access your recent lyric messages for quick sending.
Get Genius
To install the Genius iMessage extension from the iMessage App Store, open the iMessage App Drawer, tap the Store icon, and search for “Genius” or turn on “Lyrics” in the Manage tab.
