It’s time to rediscover one of the best games on the App Store. Alto’s Adventure, a beautiful endless snowboarding game, has just been update to support the new Taptic Engine on the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. It’s one of the first games available to offer unique haptic feedback while playing.

Feedback you can feel

Feedback you can feel

Players will be able to feel feedback at specific points in the game.

Apple didn’t release the Taptic Engine API until after the special iPhone 7 introduction event earlier this month. So the game is one of the first real-world examples of how third-party developers can add the feature to their apps. Alto’s Adventure developer Snowman, in a blog post, described the new feedback players should notice in version 1.4.1:

Thanks to the expanded Taptic Engine, we’ve been able to pinpoint exciting moments in a run and tie them to more precise vibrational feedback. Now, you’ll feel a nice jolt of satisfaction upon collecting a wayward llama or sliding over an ice boost. The golden burst of a super coin or powdery landing of a huge combo will hopefully be a little more thrilling.

We’ve even tried to give some consideration to calmer moments: reaching minumum & maximum zoom or snapping the perfect shot in Photo Mode will vibrate like a real camera, immersing you in the joys of being your own mountain photographer. The list goes on, but rather than spoil it all, we’re excited for players to stumble onto each new interaction and find their favourite ones.

A few weeks ago, the game also added a number of new features with its version 1.4 update. Easily the best was the addition of more than 60 fun stickers in iOS 10’s Message app. Any users with a 3D Touch enabled device can also press on the app’s icon to select a number of Quick Actions including the ability to start in Standard or Zen mode.

Collect your llamas and coins

You need to collect your escaped llamas as you snowboard down the slopes, while also gathering coins to buy new gear from the village workshop.

Grind the wires

There are some wires and walls you can grind down, scoring even more points and a speed boost.

Jump, do backflips, but watch your landings

You score speed boosts for doing tricks like jumps, grinds, and backflips. Just be sure to watch that landing so you don't crash.
