Amazon Alexa App for iPad Can Now Make Calls, Send Messages and More

Digital Communicator
March 12, 2018

The Amazon Alexa app for iPad can now be used to make audio/video calls and send messages to other Echo devices, making the features available to a wider audience.

Previously, anyone wanting to make calls or send messages needed an Echo device like the Echo Show or Echo Spot. But now, you’ll just need an iPad.

The iPad app can now also take advantage of Drop In on Echo devices that will let anyone check in and view a video/audio in the vicinity. Off by default, both parties will need to approve the feature on a contact-by-contact basis.

Just last week, Echo devices gained a new Follow-Up Mode that will allow user to ask multiple questions to the assistant, in a specified time, without needing to say the Alexa wake word.

Designed for the iPhone and all iPad models, the Amazon Alexa app can be downloaded now on the App Store for free.
