An upcoming Fallout Shelter update will bring crafting, new rooms and more
A big update is coming to our top free iPad app of 2015, Fallout Shelter. Developer Bethesda recently announced that version 1.4 of the game will land later this week.
The game ties in with the Fallout console game series and blends a number of genres into a fun and interesting package.
Gamers are in charge of creating their own underground vault to help keep their residents safe, happy, and healthy even with a nuclear wasteland outside. As the overseer, you’ll have to select what rooms to build and assign residents to different workstations.

Credit: BethesdaAnd the biggest new feature in the update – crafting – should be familiar to fans of the series. That will allow gamers to turn junk into useful items. You’ll be able to create new items in the Weapon and Armor crafting rooms.
Lunchboxes will also contain a bonus junk card. Wasteland explorers may also find junk.
The customization options are also getting better. Overseers can build a new Barbershop and change the look of any vault dweller. You’ll also find that new outfits and weapons from Fallout 4 can be crafted or in lunchboxes.
Along with new dogs and cats to select from, parrots will be available as pets.
Finally, the time of day will be properly reflected in the game.

Fallout Shelter is designed for the iPhone/iPod touch and all iPad models. It can be downloaded now on the App Store for free. Like other similar titles, there are a number of in-app purchases available.
Originally arriving back in mid-2015, the game has continued to get even better with a steady stream of updates. Most recently, version 1.3 landed back in December and brought the ability to permanently evict slackers and more.
Along with receiving our top honor, Fallout Shelter was also named as one of Apple’s best games of the year.
