Apple Launches New Self Service Repair Program

November 17, 2021

Apple has just announced a new Self Service Program that will allow consumers to conduct their own repairs of the iPhone 12 and iPhone 13. Any Mac with an M1 chip will also soon be included.

The program will allow consumers who are comfortable with doing their own repairs to access Apple parts, tools, and manuals.

Apple said the program will be available starting next year in the U.S. and will eventually expand to other countries.

To begin, the initial phase of the program will start with commonly service parts including the display, battery, and camera. Additional repair options will come later in 2022.

You’ll need to review a repair manual before getting started. Then you’ll place an order for the parts and tools using the Apple Self Service Repair Online Store. After the repair, you can also return the used part for recycling and receive a credit toward the original purchase.

Instead of average consumers, Apple says the program is for individual technicians with the knowledge and experience to repair delicate electronics.
