Apple Officially Releases iOS 10.2 to the General Public
The latest version of iOS has arrived to the general public. After seven beta versions, anyone can now download iOS 10.2 over-the-air or through iTunes. On your iOS device, head to Settings, General, and then Software Update.
The TV app and more
The cross platform TV app is a major new feature of iOS 10.2
The software offers a number of new features. Photographers should be happy to hear about the new Preserve Camera Settings feature. Instead of completely resetting after each time the Camera app is closed, you can select to preserve the last camera mode, photo filter, and Live Photo setting.
Also included are three new wallpaper options, a video widget, new emoji, and the TV app.
There are four major sections of the TV app – Library, Watch Now, Store, and Search.
As you could probably guess, the Library tab show all of your recently purchased TV shows and movies. Watch Now promises that users can continue to watch TV shows or movies or get recommendations for new content. The Store tab offers iTunes content and allow you to subscribe to popular streaming services or watch TV apps available with cable credentials and the single sign-on feature.
Finally, users can search for exactly the content they are looking for. The Search tab also shows trending movies and TV shows.
The app works in tandem with the single sign-on feature that was recently rolled out to all iOS users. With the feature, users can sign in once and then receive instant access to all supported video apps included in a cable or satellite subscription.
