Apple touts the progress of ResearchKit, launches CareKit
At today’s special media event in Cupertino, California, Apple has just unveiled a new health-related framework – CareKit.
Taking an active role in care
The new framework is designed to build apps that empower people to take an active role in their care. Just like ResearchKit, it will also be completely open source and available in April.
Apple’s Jeff Williams also announced a new app that takes advantage of CareKit. It will help with Parkinson’s patients. Unlike ResearchKit, the data collected with CareKit is designed to be shared with medical professionals and family members.
HealthKit continues to improve
Williams also took time to tout the success of HealthKit. With the framework, researchers have been able to conduct the largest Parkinson’s study in history.
Asthma triggers in all 50 states have also been discovered.
