Under new leader Phil Schiller, we’re beginning to see some notable improvements to the App Store.

Most notably, the Best New Apps section has changed for the better. Previously, the section was only updated once a week on Thursdays. Now, that important and very visible section is being refreshed much more often, sometimes once a day.

That is the first section on the App Store’s main page and should give more developers a chance to be seen and noticed.

And as first pointed out by to 9to5Mac, Apple’s senior vice president of worldwide marketing, recently responded to a Twitter mention about the change.

Along with saying that the App Store is “a place we all want to visit every day,” Schiller promised that more good work is coming.

A look at the recent changes

Back in December, Apple announced a number of leadership changes, including placing Schiller as the leader of App Stores under all platforms. Other changes included naming Jeff Williams as chief operating officer, Johny Srouji as senior vice president for hardware technologies, and Tor Myhren as vice president of marketing communications.

I’m glad to see Schiller already making an impact on the App Store. Hopefully the good work he is promising will arrive soon. While there is room for improvement on the iOS App Store, the Mac store definitely needs to be overhauled.
