Camera+ 2 Arrives With Photo Library Integration and Much More
In the eight years since its release, Camera+ has been a mainstay for iPhone photographers of all types looking to make their images even better. Along with a number of different manual controls to use while shooting, the app became a one-stop shop with a host of great editing features.
And developer LateNiteSoft has just unveiled the completely new Camera+ 2 that builds on the foundation of the original while providing a number of new features and improvements.
A Better Lightbox
Unlike the previous version, Camera+ 2 supports both the iPhone and iPad. The tablet version also supports drag and drop in iOS 11 to easily transfer photos in or out of the app.
And probably the biggest new feature is the revamped Lightbox.
All photos taken with the app will appear in the Lightbox to edit and sort. But like the previous version, you don’t need to import other images from your library. Just select Photo Library and you can manage and editor those images directly in the app.
Manual Control Features
Along with that major improvement, Camera+ 2 offers a huge number of control features when shooting with your iOS device.
You can select exact settings for shutter speed, ISO, white balance, and more.
With a dual-lens iPhone, photographers can also select to use the wide or telephoto lens to take a shot. The dual-lens iPhones can also take advantage of a Depth Capture mode that captures depth information. In The Lab editor, you can selectively apply that information to distant or closer subjects.
There are also a number of modes that can be used while shooting. Notably, a Smile Mode will only capture the image when a smile is detected. Other options include a stabilizer mode, slow shutter mode, burst mode, and timer mode.
Photographers can also capture and edit images in the RAW format using the app.
A Camera App Not to be Missed
The original Camera+ has consistently been my go-to third-party camera app for many years as it provided a number of unique features not found in Apple’s stock version.
And the new version is just as impressive. Along with all the great features found in the original, Camera+ 2 adds a great number of new additions and offers some substantial improvements to the overall experience.
If you’re looking for a modern camera app that offers manual controls and a whole lot more, Camera+ 2 should be on the top of your list. While it’s not perfect, the app provides enough additional features in an easy-to-use package to easily warrant the purchase.

Designed for the iPhone and all iPad models, Camera+ 2 can be downloaded now on the App Store for $2.99. There are no in-app purchases.
Anyone who has previously purchased the original app will be required to buy the new version.
