The iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, and iPhone X all offer a wireless charging system.

Apple has published a support document detailing the car companies that support wireless charging for the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus. This document will almost certainly receive an update once the iPhone X launches in the coming days. All three phones support the Qi standard.

The following manufacturers offer wireless chargers that implement the Qi standard. The chargers will work with iPhone 8 and might work with iPhone 8 Plus, depending on the size of the wireless system in the car:

  • Audi
  • BMW
  • Chrysler
  • Ford
  • Honda
  • Mercedes-Benz
  • PSA
  • Toyota
  • Volkswagen
  • Volvo

GM vehicles that support wireless charging for both the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus (and probably the iPhone X) include:

You can wirelessly charge your iPhone 8 or iPhone 8 Plus* with these models:

  • 2018 GMC Terrain
  • 2018 GMC Yukon
  • 2018 GMC Sierra
  • 2018 Chevrolet Bolt
  • 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe
  • 2018 Chevrolet Silverado
  • 2018 Chevrolet Suburban
  • 2018 Cadillac Escalade
  • 2018 Buick Enclave

As Apple explains:

The implementations of wireless charging in 2017 and earlier models from Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, and GMC do not meet the requirements for Qi certification. These models do not work with iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus.

Pre-orders for the iPhone X begin this Friday, Oct. 27. The handset officially arrives on Nov. 3.
