One of the all-time App Store classics – Osmos – will soon get an update for the first time in almost four years. TouchArcade was the first to report the news.
Other goodies
With Apple widely rumored to end support for 32-bit apps with iOS 11, developer Hemisphere Games is making sure that the game will be playable for many years to come by adding 64-bit support and official support for all screen sizes.
And that won’t be the only improvement. Other new features will include background matchmaking so gamers can play single-player levels while waiting for a multiplayer game, multiplayer support over a cellular connection, and in-game recording.
The developer is also looking for beta testers for the update. If you’re interested, take a look at the TouchArcade forums.
There are two different versions of the game available on the App Store to download. The HD edition is for the iPad is $4.99. An iPhone/iPod touch version is $2.99.
If you’ve never played the classic, now is the time to give it a try. In the physics-based, gamers will play as a spherical being who needs to absorb other creatures to survive. But to propel yourself, you’ll need to eject matter behind you. That fun mix of gameplay along with beautiful graphics and a wonderful soundtrack makes it something to check out, even almost seven years after its original release.
