Eero Unveils a New Device That Sports Tri-Band Wireless Technology
Eero, one of the companies that helped to jump-start the trend of wireless mesh network devices for the home, has just revealed a pair of new products, a new premium subscription service, and a redesigned app.
Faster hardware
The Eero Beacon also offers a built-in nightlight.
First up, the second-generation Eero is the same size as the original but twice as powerful. Thanks to tri-band wireless technology, it offers up to twice the speed of the first model.
Each Eero offers to Ethernet ports. One can be used to the modern while the other can be used to plug in wired devices like an Ethernet switch, printers, or gaming console.
The smaller Eero Beacon is half the size of the first model but sports more power. It can be plugged directly into a wall outlet to improve Wi-Fi coverage across a home.
A built-in LED nightlight adjust the brightness depending on the time of day. You can also set a customized brightness schedule using the app.
Both new devices are backward compatible with an existing system and will be updated over-the-air with new features and performance improvements.
A premium subscription service and update app
For a price of $9.99 per month or $99 per year, users will also be able to take advantage of the new Eero Plus subscription service.
Some of the feature include enchanced parental controls to filter out adult, illegal, and/or violent content, advanced security to protect against malware, ransomware, and phishing attacks, and priority access to Eero support.
The service will be avaialble soon.
Eero also announced a upcoming app update will allow users more customizable control to setup and manage a Wi-Fi network.

A Home Wi-Fi system with one Eero and one Eero Beacon is $299. For $399, you can snag a system with one Eero and two Beacons. A Pro system with three Eeros is $499.
