The Apple Pay-Powered Exxon Mobil Speedpass+ App Comes to Apple Watch
Originally landing in early 2016, the Exxon Mobil Speedpass+ app brought Apple Pay to 10,000 gas stations across the United States using an iPhone. But with a recent update, the feature has also made its way to the Apple Watch.
If you haven’t previously used the service, the Apple Pay feature comes directly from the app instead of the NFC capability in the phone itself.
When filling up at an Exxon or Mobil gas station with the feature, you’ll need to indicate which pump number you’re using. Then securely make a purchase with Apple Pay. But that can now be done with just an Apple Watch.
Version 4.5 also brings the ability to use Touch ID to log in to the app.
Anyone with a Ford Sync 3 entertainment system can now also select and authorize the pump using in-dash screen or voice commands to pay for the purchase.
The Exxon Mobil Speedpass+ app can be downloaded now on the App Store for free.
