Fitbit Ionic Update Adds More Apps and Watch Faces
A new Fitbit Ionic update is here.
Fitbit’s answer to the Apple Watch just received a significant app update. The Fitbit Ionic now includes more apps and watch faces, with more coming in 2018.
First introduced in October, the Fitbit Ionic offers advanced health and fitness features, including personalized training, running companion, and swim mode. It also includes GPS, heart rate tracking, Fitbit Pay, and the ability to store music for offline listening. Perhaps most significantly, the Fitbit Ionic promises four days of battery life on a single charge.
The Fitbit OS update announced today, Dec. 5, adds 14 new apps to the new Fitbit App Store, although some aren’t quite ready for public release. These include Uber, The New York Times, Flipboard, and more.
The total list is as follows:
- Health & Fitness: Clue, GAME GOLF, Surfline, Walgreens
- Home & IOT: Nest, Philips Hue Lights
- Food & Drink: Yelp
- News: Flipboard, The New York Times
- Travel & Transit: TripAdvisor, Uber, United Airlines, British Airways, Lyft
New watch faces include one that uses DarkSky to offer a continuous weather forecast, a retro sunset face, and one called Nothing special, which provides the time, date, weather, battery life, and more.
The $299.95 Fitbit Ionic is available in various styles. You can purchase one through Amazon.com, Fitbit, and at other retailers.
