Google Maps is Celebrating its Anniversary With a New App Design

February 6, 2020

To celebrate its 15th anniversary, some big changes are coming to the Google Maps iOS app.

Five Tabs

Five Tabs

Coming today, the updated app features five tabs – Explore, Commute, Saved, Contribute, and Updates.

The Saved tab allows you to view all of the saved locations, find and organize plans for a trip, and even share recommendations of places you have been.

Using the Contribute tab, you can share knowledge of the local area for others to use.

Finally, in the Update section, you can view trending and must-see spots around you from others and publishers like The Infatuation. You’ll also be able to talk directly with businesses.

There is also a new icon as well that Google says is inspired by the app’s change from a simple way to get around to something to help you explore.

Google Maps is available to download on the App Store now for free. It’s designed for the iPhone and all iPad models.
