Infuse 5 Arrives With New Features for Multi-Format Video Playback
Infuse, the acclaimed multi-format video player app developed by FireCore (the team behind the popular aTV Flash software for jailbroken Apple TVs), has just undergone another major upgrade. As a result, here comes Infuse 5.
Like the previous major upgrades, this one sees the arrival of new and noteworthy features.
iPad multitasking
At long last, iPad multitasking has made its way to Infuse. With Infuse 5, you can now use Split View and Picture-in-Picture while interacting with another app on your iPad.
Now you can catch up on the latest season of The Walking Dead while composing an email, or browse the web while downloading videos from your Mac. Productivity doubled!
- FireCoreCloud streaming
Like its predecessor, Infuse 5 lets you browse and play videos stores on your Mac, PC, NAS, Wi-Fi hard drive, and UPnP/DLNA apps like Plex and Kodi (XBMC). But beyond that, it offers the ability to browse and play videos from cloud services including Dropbox, Google Drive, and OneDrive. Just connect your cloud service of choice to stream videos from it — no syncing required.
iCloud-based libraries
Using an app on multiple devices often means having to set up each device to be consistent with the others. But with Infuse 5, that won’t be the case. And it’s thanks to enhanced iCloud syncing, which now keeps shares, favorites, metadata corrections, playback settings, and Up Next items in sync across all iCloud-connected devices.
More improvements
Infuse 5 also includes the following improvements:
- General settings are now included in iCloud backups
- Automatic subtitle downloads for synced files
- Import directly from other apps (iCloud, DS File, Dropbox, etc…) via iOS Document Picker
- Automatic loading of the first unwatched episode
- New button layout on ticket
- Optional user/password authentication for browser uploads
New feature for Apple TV
Infuse 5 is a universal app that works with tvOS as well as iOS. And on Apple TV, it introduces a new Up Next list with two sections. The top section shows the items you’re currently watching, and the bottom section shows recently added items. Check it out if you want to continue where you left off or to find something new to watch.
