Infuse 5 Arrives With New Features for Multi-Format Video Playback

At long last, iPad multitasking has made its way to Infuse. With Infuse 5, you can now use Split View and Picture-in-Picture while interacting with another app on your iPad.

Like its predecessor, Infuse 5 lets you browse and play videos stores on your Mac, PC, NAS, Wi-Fi hard drive, and UPnP/DLNA apps like Plex and Kodi (XBMC). But beyond that, it offers the ability to browse and play videos from cloud services including Dropbox, Google Drive, and OneDrive. Just connect your cloud service of choice to stream videos from it — no syncing required.

Using an app on multiple devices often means having to set up each device to be consistent with the others. But with Infuse 5, that won’t be the case. And it’s thanks to enhanced iCloud syncing, which now keeps shares, favorites, metadata corrections, playback settings, and Up Next items in sync across all iCloud-connected devices.

Infuse 5 also includes the following improvements:

• General settings are now included in iCloud backups
• Automatic subtitle downloads for synced files
• Import directly from other apps (iCloud, DS File, Dropbox, etc…) via iOS Document Picker
• Automatic loading of the first unwatched episode
• New button layout on ticket
• Optional user/password authentication for browser uploads

Infuse 5 is a universal app that works with tvOS as well as iOS. And on Apple TV, it introduces a new Up Next list with two sections. The top section shows the items you’re currently watching, and the bottom section shows recently added items. Compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, iPad, and Apple TV, Infuse 5 is downloadable now from the App Store for free. The app offers a free one-month trial for its Pro features. After the trial, you can continue using the app via a subscription priced at $6.99 per year.

Pro features include support for additional formats, support for 24-bit Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD MA audio, AirPlay and Google Cast streaming, and the aforementioned iCloud syncing and cloud streaming.
