Journal App Day One Updated With New Social Feature
Long before Apple introduced its own Journal app with iOS/iPadOS 17.2, Day One was one of the best ways record your life how you want. And the app is getting a big update with a unique social feature.
With Shared Journals, you can share life updated and memories with up to 30 other users, including the owner. Share Journals are always separated from personal journal. No other entry in a private journal will ever be shareable.
Both private and shared journals are end-to-end encrypted.
To create a Shared Journal, head to the menu and select New Shared Journal. Give the journal a name and description, the choose Create. You can also select from additional customization options like concealing the content from your journal, sorting options, and hiding the Shared Journal from other parts of the app like On This Day or Today.
With the invite link, you can send it to the other members. The link will expire in 14 days. You can also then approve or deny requests.
Once you add an entry, it will show up in the Timeline view of the Shared Journal. It will show the date of the entry, author name, a preview of any media and any reactions and a comment count. Comments and reactions can help further the conversation or provide feedback.
While Day One is a free download on the App Store, you’ll need to be a subscriber to unlock and create the Shared Journals feature. Non-premium members cab access your Shared Journals at no charge.
A Premium membership is $5.99 per month or $34.99 per year. The subscription unlocks the ability to sync across the iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, and Mac version. You can also create unlimited journals, add unlimited photos and videos, and record audio for voice-to-text transcription.
If you’re looking for a more powerful and feature-packed version of Apple’s take on journaling, Day One is a perfect option. Along with being accessible on all Apple platforms, the app is well-designed and easy to use. I’ve been using the app for a little more than a year, and have enjoyed using it daily.
