Jury is Smartphone App That Lets You Settle Disputes with a Jury of Your Peers

July 16, 2020

It’s strange to think that after thousands of years of civilization we’ve still only come up with two methods of conflict resolution: shouting at each other, and going to court.

Jury: Resolve Disputes Online

Jury provides a much-needed third way, imitating the broad strokes of courtroom proceedings without the complex legal niceties and, more importantly, the eye-watering legal fees.

Here’s how it works: say you’re having a beef with your roommate, who never washes the dishes; or you’re locking horns with your neighbor, whose cat keeps using your garden as a toilet; or you can’t see eye to eye with your cousin, who’s insisting that he pays less towards the holiday rental home because he’s traveling from farther away.

You can’t get them to understand your point of view, and you can’t understand theirs either, condemning all parties to discord and dissatisfaction.

This is where Jury comes in. All you need to do is either hand-pick or randomly elect a panel of six jurors and present your case to them.

You can upload arguments and evidence to Jury, and once your jurors have reviewed the material and discussed the case with each other they can make a decision, giving you and your opponent a fair and final verdict one way or the other.

This verdict isn’t legally binding, of course, and as much as we like Jury we wouldn’t recommend it in cases where there’s a lot at stake. Sometimes only the civil courts will do.

But if you want to squash a trivial beef before it spirals out of control, Jury is the app for you.

It’s a pleasure to use, too, whether you’re a plaintiff, a defendant, or a juror, thanks to an intuitive interface that lets you review your ongoing cases, see the invitations you’ve sent or received, customise your profile, and check your notifications.

Jury is available right now on the App Store and Google Play.
