LastPass Password Manager Makes Syncing Free for All
LastPass, one of the most popular password management apps on iOS and other platforms, has just been updated with several enhancements. And undoubtedly the most significant of these is the change that makes syncing across all compatible devices free for all users.
What is LastPass?
A formidable competitor to the likes of 1Password and Dashlane, LastPass is an app designed for the secure storage of passwords, logins, credit card information, and other sensitive data.
Securely store data
Enter your master password or use Touch ID to gain access to your LastPass data. Easily add login items and other pieces of important information, with support for strong-password generation, for secure storage and retrieval.
Quickly log in in-app
Log in to your saved accounts right within LastPass’ in-app browser. No need to manually enter your login credentials. LastPass does it for you, automagically.
Free sync for all
Previously, syncing your account to every device it’s used on was supported only with a premium subscription. But now cross-device syncing has been made available to users of the service’s free tier as well.
What this means is that with or without a premium subscription, you can sync all of your passwords and logins across all of your devices — phone, tablet, laptop, desktop — and anything you save on one device is instantly available on any other device you use.
From day one here at LastPass, we’ve been on a mission to help you simplify your online life, and make it a whole lot easier to achieve strong password security. By offering LastPass for free across all your devices, we’re making it that much easier for everyone to make good password habits the norm. Because when you have a password manager that goes everywhere you do, you have a strong foundation for securing and taking control of your identity.
- Joe Siegrist, Founder, VP & GM of LastPassThis is a great move on LassPass’ part. Above all, by making cross-device syncing free, users will be more encouraged to save their data in the app and use it to strengthen their data’s security, knowing that anything they add and change is automatically reflected on their other devices. And then there’s the likelihood of users being satisfied enough with LastPass’ syncing and other free features that they’ll be persuaded to subscribe to its premium plan.
More enhancements
Aside from making cross-device syncing free, the latest update for iOS brings a few other improvements.
