On Federal Holiday, Apple Honors the Life of Martin Luther King Jr.

The World Around You
January 16, 2017

Today, Jan. 16, is Martin Luther King Jr. Day in the United States. Once again, Apple is celebrating the life of the civil rights icon on the company’s homepage.

The Apple website shows a photo of King alongside one of his famous quotes:

Commit yourself to the noble struggle for equal rights. You will make a greater person of yourself, a greater nation of your country, and a finer world to live in.

At the same time Apple CEO Tim Cook has honored the slain leader via Twitter:

Martin Luther King Jr. Day is a federal holiday celebrated on the third Monday of January. It marks King’s birthday, which is Jan. 15.

Apple also celebrated this special day on the company’s homepage in 2015 and 2016.
