Monster Hunter Now Roars Onto the App Store

September 14, 2023

It’s time to start hunting as Niantic’s latest AR game is here—Monster Hunter Now.

Developed with support from Capcom, the new game is set in the Monster Hunter Universe.

You will become a monster hunter while in the real world. Wherever you are is a hunting ground. It’s designed to be quick and easy with one-handed play and 75-second hunts.

Hunters can mark monsters for later with the paintball feature. Once they are marked, you can fight that monster later from wherever you want. When exploring, your Palico can mark monsters with paintballs, even while you’re not actively playing the game.

Thanks to AR, you can see the monsters right in front of you. You can interact with them and see their reactions while sharing everything you see with others via social media.

And it’s more fun when hunting with friends. You can use a QR code or friend code or even recruit new players with an invitation code. While playing together, you and battle companions can earn rewards including recovery pills and paintballs. Up to four players can hunt together in multiplayer action.

Hunting parties allow you to team up with a specific group of friends to hunt together, even if they’re not near you. Every member of the party can hunt monsters they find together

Just like other games in the series, you can preset equipment and weapons. That will make it easier to change them during a hectic fight. You can select armor, weapons, and other equipment before a hunt.

While hunting, you encounter a wide variety of monster like Great Lagras all the way to Rathalos.

Monster Hunter Now is only for the iPhone. It’s a free download on the App Store now.

As usual with this type of game, there are in-app purchases available.
