Pokemon Go Plus Is Set to Launch in September, Not Late-July
Pokemon Go continues to be a huge success. But anyone looking to take their Pokemon training to the next level is in for some bad news. The Bluetooth-connected device has had its release date postponed to September, meaning you’ll need to wait a little longer before you can have notifications for nearby Pokemon reach you from a wearable device.
The news hit the Web in a recent Twitter update from Nintendo of America, @NintendoAmerica, in which the folks partly behind the release of Pokemon Go confirmed that the wearable accessory is set to launch later than expected.
“The PokemonGo Plus accessory will now be released Sept 2016 instead of the originally expected end of July launch,” the update reads. Concerning the wearable, Pokemon Go’s website explains online:
The Pokémon GO Plus is a small device that lets you enjoy Pokémon GO while you’re on the move and not looking at your smartphone. The device connects to a smartphone via Bluetooth low energy and notifies you about events in the game—such as the appearance of a Pokémon nearby—using an LED and vibration.
You can even catch Pokemon using the wearable.
Like most people, I’ve been playing a lot of Pokemon Go recently, and I can certainly appreciate the appeal of a device like Pokemon Go Plus (though I’m not sure I’ll be picking one up). The low price point combined with the mass appeal and popularity of Pokemon Go indicates that the wearable is going to do well once it’s eventually released. Here’s hoping we don’t see the accessory’s launch postponed again.
