At 2017’s Game Developers Conference in San Francisco, our own Trevor Sheridan had a chance to chat with the folks at Noodlecake Games about their upcoming titles. Summer Catchers is one of those, bringing you the story of a little girl from a northern land who is trying to find a magical season of warmth.
No Stranger to Winter Wonderlands
Noodlecake Games, if you don’t recognize the name, brought us the enchanting and exciting winter wonderland game Alto’s Adventure. Summer Catchers has that same feel, but you’re driving a wooden car instead of snowboarding. You have obstacles to avoid or blast through with your battering ram, along with other boosts you can equip on your car.
Collect Mushrooms and Fulfill Quests
On your way to finding that magical season of warmth, you barter help for help. The wolf woodworker has a number of tasks that need to be completed in each forest, and he shows you the way out only after you complete each one. He also helps you equip boosts to your car, for a price, of course. Fortunately, you collect lots of mushrooms along the way, and those are what you use to buy extras for your vehicle.
An Endless Voyage to the Season of Warmth
This endless racing game takes you through a variety of forests, each with its own terrain and obstacles. Your job is to help the little girl find summer, so she can experience the warmth she craves. The game is expected to feature more than eight forests, or levels, for you to complete. Summer Catchers will be a premium title, and is still several months on the horizon. Check out the gameplay video below, and we’ll keep you up to date with new developments.
