Send and Request Cash With Siri Using the Updated Square Cash App
With the official arrival of iOS 10 earlier today, a number of apps are being updated to offer compatibility with the software.
Simple and easy
You can "gift wrap" cash payments through iMessage.
One of the most notable is Square Cash. The app, which allows users to send and receive money for free, has just been updated to version 2.13.2.
The biggest new feature is compatibility with Apple’s virtual assistant Siri. That means you can just use your voice to interact with the app saying things like “Send $10 for tacos to Lauren with Cash,” and “Request $900 from Jake for rent with Cash.”
You can also take advantage of a new iMessage app in iOS 10. Before sending a message, you can attach money for a friend. They can tap once to claim the money. If you want it to be a surprise, you can optionally “gift wrap” the amount.
Finally, the update brings a Cash Virtual Card number. Users can pay for items using money stored in the app. It’s powered by Visa, and is a real card number. The service is also completely free.
More than one option
Square Cash is designed for the iPhone and can be downloaded now for free.
Apps that can send/receive money are one of the six allowed by Apple to take advantage of Siri. The other types of apps include ride booking (like Uber), photo search, messaging, starting a workout, and VoIP calling.
Other apps similar to Square Cash, like Venmo, have also been updated today to support Siri.
