New T-Mobile Streaming TV Service Is Coming in 2018 to 'Disrupt' Industry
A new T-Mobile streaming TV service is set to arrive next year, according to the No. 3 carrier in the United States. While little is known about the new service, CEO John Legere says it will be “disruptive” like his company’s other services.
Helping to introduce the new service will be technology innovator Layer3 TV, which has been acquired by T-Mobile. Founded in 2013, Layer3 TV offers select television channels, streaming online video content, and social media in five U.S. cities.
Legere promises big things from the new T-Mobile streaming TV service, noting:
People love their TV, but they hate their TV providers. And worse, they have no real choice but to simply take it – the crappy customer service, clunky technology and outrageous bills loaded with fees! That’s where we come in. We’re gonna fix the pain points and bring real choice to consumers across the country
It only makes sense for the Un-carrier to do to TV what we’re doing to wireless: change it for good! Personally, I can’t wait to start fighting for consumers here!
When it arrives in 2018, the T-Mobile streaming TV service will have plenty of competition. Current over-the-top TV services available in the U.S. include YouTube TV, Sling, PlayStation Vue, DirecTV Now, and Hulu.
