One billionth iPhone sold
On Wednesday, Apple announced the sale of its billionth iPhone. The milestone comes nine years after the first handset went on sale in June 2007.
In a statement, Apple CEO Tim Cook noted:
“We never set out to make the most, but we’ve always set out to make the best products that make a difference. Thank you to everyone at Apple for helping change the world every day.”
Despite declining sales, the iPhone still accounts for two-thirds of Apple’s revenues.
Preorder your “iPhone 7” on …
Earlier this week, well-known mobile phone leaker Evan Blass predicted that Apple will release the 2016 iPhones on Friday, Sept. 16. Blass now says that Sept. 9 is the day preorders for the “iPhone 7” and “iPhone 7 Plus” will begin.
Apple is expected to hold its fall event on Tuesday, Sept. 6 or Wednesday, Sept. 7.
Apple set to release new betas soon
Cupertino is expected to launch the fourth iOS 10 beta early next week. Also likely are new beta versions for macOS Sierra, tvOS 10, and watchOS 3. Apple released iOS 10 beta 3 on Monday, July 18.
Apple announced iOS 10 on Monday, June 13 at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC). The update features a new Home app, and major revisions for the Music, News, and Messages apps.
