You Can Now Get The Walking Dead: A New Frontier Free of Charge
Less than two weeks after its release, the latest season of Telltale’s acclaimed video game adaptation of the “Walking Dead” zombie apocalypse comic book series has gone free. That’s right: You can now get The Walking Dead: A New Frontier free of charge, as opposed to paying its original download price of $4.99.
Similar to its predecessors, Walking Dead: The Game and Walking Dead: The Game – Season 2, and its spinoff sibling, The Walking Dead: Michonne, The Walking Dead: A New Frontier is an episodic point-and-click graphic adventure game of choice and consequence. As such, it challenges you to make the right moves at crucial points in the game since every decision you come to will impact the later events and elements in the story. The game presents a brand new story centered on a brand new character, although a fan-favorite character does return in a key role.
Meet Javier
The Walking Dead: A New Frontier is set sometime after the “All Out War” arc of the comic books. It’s been a few years since the dawn of the zombie apocalypse, and the people who haven’t turned into the undead have turned into hardened survivors. One of them is Javier, an all-new character who, along with a returning character, is one of the two playable characters in the game.
Reunite with Clementine
The other playable character is Clementine, the breakout character of the first two seasons. In The Walking Dead: A New Frontier, she’s in her early teens and in control of herself. Clementine means business, so both the undead and the living better not mess with her.
Now that you can download The Walking Dead: A New Frontier free of charge, you can already play the game’s first episode without spending a dime. Note, though, that you need to make in-app purchases to play the game’s second episode, which was released for free alongside the first, and the remaining three episodes, which are set to come out in the coming months. And just to clarify: the second episode was previously offered for free, but is now available for a fee.

As mentioned, the initial download already includes the first episode. The second episode is already available to download via in-app purchase, for $4.99. Each of the three succeeding episodes may be purchased as it becomes available by the same means and for the same price. Alternatively, a discounted season pass, which covers episodes 2 to 5, may be purchased via a $14.99 in-app purchase.
The Walking Dead: A New Frontier is designed to make it appealing not only to people who have played the first two seasons but also to newcomers to the series. For the former group of players, the game allows loading of saves from the previous seasons.
