A YouTube battery drain issue has been resolved with an iOS app update. The problem, which dramatically drained iPhone batteries even when the YouTube app was idle in the background, was first discovered earlier this month.
The release notes for YouTube: Watch, Listen, Stream 12.45 says “fixed an issue with battery usage” under the What’s New Section.
First confirmed by YouTube on Nov. 13, the battery issue caused lots of complaints and claims. One Twitter poster, for example, said his iPhone X battery life dropped by 20 percent in 30 minutes.
You can download the YouTube app from the App Store.
