You've Played Them, Used Them, And Read About Them, But What's That App Again?
Whether the general knowledge questions of ExQuizit or the subject specific queries of iTrivia, trivia games provide an entertaining way to learn new things and compete against one another on an intellectual level. Thanks to XVision's release of the What's That App? game, the "Who's smarter?" argument now includes knowledge of iOS app popularity. From plush toys to t-shirts, it's nearly impossible that you haven't heard of Angry Birds. However, do you recall Doodle Jump or that NBA Jam has been released on iOS? If you do, it's a great start, although, just recognizing the name isn't going to be enough. In What's That App?, players need to match the appropriate app name to the app icon. The challenge comes from partially removed icons, limited time, and a database of the 600 most popular iOS apps among all categories. So, it's anything from Angry Birds to WhatsApp Messenger. In addition, XVision has included a level system and Game Center integration. To unlock the next level, you must earn 10,000 points in a single round. Suffice it to say, it's not an easy objective to achieve. The round begins with only one minute of play time with the ability to earn up to 100 points per question and nine additional seconds every three questions if you identify each app in a single guess, a "Perfect." Rounds are endless, if you can continue to replenish the time, allowing nearly limitless replay value to achieve the highest overall and individual level scores. In addition, XVision promises regular content updates, though it appears that they have a good start. What's That App? is designed for iPhone and iPod touch running iOS 5.0 or later, and available in the App Store for $0.99.
