Put Your Tagged Music On Display With Shazam's New 'Shazam Friends' Sharing Feature

March 22, 2011
Shazam has updated their main lineup of music identifying apps for iPhone and iPod touch to include a new sharing feature that allows you and your friends to put your tagged music on display. Appropriately titled "Shazam Friends," this new feature allows you to share the music you have tagged with friends via Facebook quickly and easily, and view what others have been tagging as well. The update adds a new "Friends" tab at the bottom of the screen, allowing you to keep track of everything your friends have been tagging as long as you have linked your Facebook account to the app. From this list you are able to see the song that has been tagged, band name, album artwork, and when it was tagged. You are also able to view related content and purchase the song from iTunes after tapping on the listing. Sharing is much easier as well thanks to a conveniently placed "Share" button located at the top of the feature list after you have tagged a song. Tapping on it will allow you to choose your sharing service of choice, and then Shazam will create a custom message that will provide all of your social network followers with the ability to listen to and purchase the song from iTunes. It's worth noting that after you have linked your Facebook account to Shazam, you don't have to manually share each and every song you tag since the "Friends" list is automatically populated. However, if you want those Facebook and Twitter friends of yours who aren't using the app to see what you have tagged, you must still use the "Share" option. Of course, Shazam Friends isn't exactly worth your time unless you have friends who are utilizing the new service. In this case, Shazam has you covered. When you sign into your Facebook account from the "Friends" tab, the app gives you the option to notify and invite friends to use the service. From that point on, you and your friends will be able to spam each other with your unique tastes in music. The new Shazam Friends sharing feature is now available in both the free and paid versions of Shazam. (Shazam) RED will be gaining the feature via a future update, while iPad users seem to have been left out in the cold.
