In a number of Twitter updates which hit the Web earlier today, iPhone Dev-Team member @MuscleNerd confirmed that the upcoming version of redsn0w will make use of users' SHSH blobs for iOS 5.0+. Furthermore, he advised jailbreak fans to save their SHSH blobs using TinyUmbrella (if they haven't already).
The first update read:
Upcoming redsn0w release makes both TinyUmbrella and Cydia blob saves useful for 5.0+ (1st verifies, then stitches) — MuscleNerd (@MuscleNerd) December9, 2011Following this, he added:
For time being, please just use most recent TU to save 5.0.1 blobs+APTicket...redsn0w will do the rest, should you need to restore. — MuscleNerd (@MuscleNerd) December9, 2011For a while now, the iPhone Dev-Team has been working on a version of redsn0w that will have the capacity to provide iOS 5 devices with an untethered jailbreak solution. Currently, it's only possible to "liberate" iOS devices running iOS 5 using a semi-tethered solution, which isn't ideal. Here's hoping an untethered solution is available soon. In the meantime, be sure to save your SHSH blobs using TinyUmbrella. For more information regarding the app, take a look at our article.
