Instagram Snap Camera Lets You Experience Instagram Out In The Real World

May 2, 2012
Are you wondering what Instagram has done with the billion dollars it got when it was acquired by Facebook last month? Well, wonder no more. The Verge has obtained a copy of a "leaked" video that apparently advertises Instagram Snap, a special camera inspired by the popular photo-sharing app's functions. As demoed below, the Polaroid-like camera offers "a new way to create and share your photos IRL." It lets you share photos by actually passing them to your friends. It lets you add custom borders and comments by actually drawing lines and writing messages on your photos with markers. Best of all, it lets you recreate Instagram's filters with actual materials. Want the Toaster filter? Just put your photos in a toaster. Fan of the Earlybird effect? Simply leave your photos on any pavement early in the morning and wait for a passing bird to poop on it. Genius. If you can't see the video embedded above, please click here. On the off chance that it slipped your notice, the video is nothing more than a playful parody of Instagram. (Sorry, hipsters!) While it's undeniably hilarious, it may well be a month too late, as it would've made for a great April Fools' Day prank in the humorous vein of Google's best.
