Shape Services Launches Business Card Reader HD For iPad

July 11, 2012
Shape Services, creator of IM+ and Business Card Reader for iPhone, has recently released Business Card Reader HD for iPad. Business Card Reader uses OCR to pull data from business cards, similar to Scanner Pro, and then automatically fill that information into a contact page. Obviously, this process relies heavily on the your iDevice's camera quality, which is most likely why Shape Services didn't seriously consider an iPad version of Business Card Reader until the third generation of the iPad was released. Even if you don't have the new iPad with its five megapixel sensor and autofocus camera, you can still utilize Business Card Reader HD by importing images from the iOS camera roll or even via LinkedIn. It may not be quite as convenient for new data, although, it isn't a deal breaker. Along with the LinkedIn integration, Business Card Reader HD also includes the built-in Card Holder, allows editing, and adding the new data to the Card Holder, iOS Address Book, or both. These are all of the same features of the iPhone and iPod touch version, however, the iPad's larger screen offers them in a more beautiful and expansive user interface. Business Card Reader HD is compatible with iPad running iOS 4.0 or later, and available in the App Store for $4.99. Third generation iPad is the only officially supported for camera captured cards, but it is possible to achieve at least partial recognition with a second generation iPad.
