The War Of The Words Continues In W.E.L.D.E.R.
August 1, 2012
Word Examination Laboratory for Dynamic Extraction and Reassessment or, simply, W.E.L.D.E.R. has received another word-welding update today.
Released in November last year, the originally single-player-only word game for iPhone and iPad gained a turn-based multiplayer feature last June. For the most part, today's update builds on that very feature.
W.E.L.D.E.R. 2.1 offers a number of new ways to start a new two-player game.
Most notably, you can now start a new game with a random player. Just tap the "Match" button in the two-player menu to commence random matchmaking.
Further, you can now find out who among your Facebook friends are W.E.L.D.E.R. fans too and invite them to play with you.
Also, you can now invite your Twitter followers to start a new match with you.
Speaking of Facebook and Twitter, you can post your two-player game activity to either or both of those two social networks. As a bonus, you can also like W.E.L.D.E.R. on Facebook to get 100 free Gigawatts.
And speaking of Gigawatts, now, if your opponent resigns from a game, you win the game by default and get the Gigawatt score bonus. Note, though, that there must be at least 1,000 total points scored in the game for you to be eligible for the bonus.
New two-player leaderboards and achievements are also added by the update, as is the ability to nudge your opponents into taking their turn. A few obligatory fixes and optimizations are also included in the update.
But last and certainly not least is full Retina welding. Thanks to today's update, W.E.L.D.E.R. is finally optimized for the third-generation iPad's Retina display.
W.E.L.D.E.R. 2.1 is available now in the App Store as a free update or $2.99 download.
W.E.L.D.E.R. is something of a Draw Something for wordsmiths, isn't it?
