Released alongside OS X Mountain Lion, Hello Tips, Tricks & Secrets is a quick guide to the niftier features of Apple's latest desktop OS. And now, less than one month later, we are sharing the news about the app's first update and customer appreciation sale. Part of the company's "Hello" teaching series, which also consists of Hello Tutorials for Mac and Hello iPhoto for iPad and iPhone, Hello Tips for OS X Lion and OS X Mountain Lion provides highlights of more than 100 features of Apple's desktop operating system. The tips and tricks database comprises everything from a folder renaming shortcut in Finder to Twitter and other integrated sharing options. Focusing on the frequently used features, these "tip" style lessons have an average involvement of about 20 seconds. Each mini-lesson contains brief written instructions and explanations, including visual key combo assistance, and a short demonstration video that automatically replays. It's an experience that may be short, but is certainly effective. As useful as Hello Tips is for most, there has been one popular request: VoiceOver. Integrating Apple's text-to-speech accessibility feature was never the plan, although, It's About Time takes customer feedback seriously and is pleased to offer the extra functionality for those who need it. In addition, Hello Tips is being discounted by 50 percent until the end of August. So, tell your friends. Hello Tips, Tricks & Secrets is compatible with an Apple computer running OS X 10.6 or later, and available in the Mac App Store for $0.99.
