Now Anyone With An iOS Device Can Use LooxcieLive To Broadcast Video

August 29, 2012
Looxcie has recently taken the wraps off its redesigned LooxcieLive app that should drastically improve its appeal. By far the biggest change in the app is that users no longer need the Looxcie handsfree camera to start a live broadcast. Anyone can now share a live stream using the front or back camera on an iOS device. The revamped app also sports some interesting Facebook integration. Any of your Facebook friends can watch your live or recorded streams. You can also start a private broadcast and choose who is invited to view the stream. The maximum streaming rate is 480p at 15fps with AAC LC audio, but the video quality will automatically adjust to network speed conditions. The app can be used on either a Wi-Fi or cell network. Other users of the app can use the push-to-talk feature and chat directly with the broadcaster or share a text comment with the audience. And users don’t have to worry about making or taking calls while using the app. Streams will be placed on hold automatically until a call ends. LooxcieLive is designed for the iPhone/iPod touch, but is compatible with the iPad. It is available to download in the App Store for free. While there are other live broadcasting options in the App Store like Broadcast for Friends and Color for Facebook, it is nice to see another choice for users.
