Oink, Oink: Rovio’s Bad Piggies Will Hit The App Store Sept. 27

While it’s not exactly the iPhone 5, Rovio made a pretty big announcement of its own today.
The creators of the immensely popular Angry Birds franchise announced that its newest title, Bad Piggies, will launch in the App Store on Sept. 27. The new game will show the other side of the Angry Birds equation with gamers playing the part of the green pigs.
Rovio is promising all new gameplay, and not a slingshot in sight.
“There’s a lot of empathy towards the lovable enemies from the Angry Birds games, and we’ve been constantly asked: what about the pigs’ side of the story?” said Mikael Hed, CEO of Rovio. “Bad Piggies gives you the chance to play as the second-most-loved characters in the Angry Birds universe, and explore this rich world through their green eyes.”
Rovio has been teasing the game for a few weeks on the title’s official website and funny Twitter and Facebook pages. Here’s the most recent teaser video. Click here if you can’t see the video.
I’m really excited to see what Rovio can do with the new game. I think it’s a smart idea to build off the success of the Angry Birds franchise. Even though Amazing Alex was a fun game, it just didn’t have the same staying power, at least for me.
