Help Hit iOS Game Nihilumbra Gather Enough Steam As It Glides Toward Mac And PC
October 9, 2012
One of the nicest surprises I've come across as an App Store observer has got to be Nihilumbra. It is hands down one of the best games ever made for the iOS platform. And I'm glad to report that it's about to make its way to Mac and PC as well.
Nihilumbra is a 2-D puzzle platformer that boasts a lot of depth.
It tells the story of a shadowy entity named Born. Constantly pursued by The Void, Born must make its way across various worlds to make its escape.
But these worlds are populated by menacing monsters. And to help Born get away from them, you must help it use the different colors at his disposal.
You see, these colors can alter the ground physics in the game. And it's this particular mechanic that gives Nihilumbra its "puzzling" quality amid all its platforming.
It's really no surprise that Nihilumbra has been garnering glowing reviews since its launch in the App Store three months ago. It's also no surprise that there exists a great demand for the game to be ported for Mac and PC.
And to satisfy this demand, Nihilumbra creator and independent developer Beautifun Games is making the game available for Mac and PC through Steam's Greenlight.

The Steam version of Nihilumbra replicates the original iOS version. But it also adds the following new features:
"This will be a welcome release for non-Apple users and the Steam community," says Beautifun Games. "However, the Steam Greenlight system is quite strict and requires sufficient votes before the game will be available." So, if you'd like to see Nihilumbra on Steam, better vote it up on Steam Greenlight by clicking here. Nihilumbra is currently available for iOS as a $2.99 universal game in the App Store. Let's hope that Nihilumbra does make its way toward the Mac and PC platforms — and soon, before The Void of Steam Greenlight catches up with Nihilumbra's Born.
