New Ways To Discover, Experience And Share Arrive In Pandora Radio v4.0
October 30, 2012
As we were reminded in the recently posted AppAdvice Daily "Turn Your iPhone Into a Radio" appisode, Pandora Radio is one of the top radio choices in the App Store. However, it took until today for the app to be optimized for the iPhone 5 and fifth generation iPod touch, but the update does include other goodies.
Helping to create a more diversified experience, Pandora Radio v4.0 contains an "Add Variety" tool for each station. The idea of having multiple artists per station is a nice way to toss in some different content without needing to switch stations entirely.
Replacing the New Stations tab, the Music Feed, or Feed, is a browsing-style system for discovery. After connecting to your Facebook account, the list is propagated by of your friends that use Pandora. Next, tap on each person to view their Pandora profile as well as their music "likes" and "listening to" activity. If desired, you can go beyond your friends by searching for any name. When you find someone who has similar tastes and enjoyable suggestions, follow them to place content into the feed.
Also part of the v4.0 update notes are mentions of v3.2 highlights, such as lyrics and artist biographies, plus the following enhancements:
- Timer added to the track progress indicator - drag the player controls up to reveal the timer
- Support for new BMW vehicles with the “BMW Apps” option, see bmwusa.com/apps for more details
- Numerous stability and performance enhancements
