Long Wait Over At Last? iTunes 11 To Be Released As Soon As Thursday

November 29, 2012
Just like winter, iTunes 11 is coming. And it's coming as early as tomorrow, according to a new report from The Wall Street Journal. The business-oriented broadsheet recently published a profile of Eddy Cue, Apple's senior vice president of Internet Software and Services. The profile, which expounds on Cue's reputation as the tech company's "Mr. Fix-It," makes for an interesting read. But one portion of the profile, in particular, is of great interest to a lot of us in the Apple community. According to this portion, the highly anticipated new version of iTunes, dubbed iTunes 11, is likely to be released on Thursday. It also states that the much-publicized delay surrounding iTunes 11 is caused by engineering issues:
This week, Mr. Cue faces a test of how well Apple can keep up in online services with the launch of a new desktop version of iTunes, which is expected as soon as Thursday. The new iTunes has been delayed a month by engineering issues that required parts to be rebuilt, according to people who have seen it.
Featuring a redesigned layout, a remodeled digital media store, and better iCloud integration, iTunes 11 was announced during the iPhone 5 launch event last September. It was supposed to be released sometime in October. But by the end of October, Apple, for then unspecified reasons, had to delay the release by one month. It promised to have iTunes 11 ready "before the end of November" instead. And considering The Wall Street Journal's report, it would seem that Apple is making good on its promise. With just a couple of days left in November, we'll just have to wait and see. Source: The Wall Street Journal
