Here on AppAdvice, every day is app blowout day, thanks to our daily AppsGoneFree feature. But did you know that every year since 2008, there has been a New Year's App Blowout sale? And the fifth annual New Year's App Blowout is just about to commence.
The fifth annual New Year's App Blowout celebrates the end of 2012 (which, by all accounts, has been a great year for iOS apps) and the start of 2013 (which, by all prognostications, is going to be a great year for iOS apps as well).
During the sale, a number of developers are making their apps and games available at discounted prices or at no cost at all.
This year's New Year's App Blowout lineup includes six free games and 18 discounted apps and games. And for the first time in the special's five-year history, discounted in-app purchases are also featured.

The New Year's App Blowout runs for at least 48 hours from Dec. 31, 2012 to Jan. 1, 2013.
