'Tis The Season For The Return Of App Gifting On iOS
December 14, 2012
App Store app gifting has finally been re-enabled on iOS, as first noted by 9to5Mac.
The ability to gift apps, i.e, the ability to buy apps for others, had been present in the iOS App Store until the release of iOS 6 last September. For some undisclosed reason, app gifting was removed in the latest version of iOS, which introduced a significantly redesigned App Store.
But all's well that ends well. Apple has just restored app gifting, and just in time for the yuletide season at that.
To buy an app for anyone you know, whether it's for the holidays or just because, just go to the App Store page of the app you want to gift on your iDevice. Then, tap the share button and tap the newly added Gift icon.
You will then be prompted to enter the email addresses of your intended recipients. You may also specify whether you want the gift to be sent immediately (today) or on a future date (up to 90 days in advance).
'Tis the season for gift giving, yes? Well, whether you agree or not, Apple seems to think so.
