Heroes And Castles 2.0 Strikes With Two New Game Modes, Two New Heroes And More
February 4, 2013
Previewed here on AppAdvice in November last year and reviewed rather favorably by our own Sean upon its release last month, Heroes and Castles has just received its first ever update. And its first ever update happens to be its huge 2.0 update already.
Version 2.0 of the castle defense cum over-the-shoulder action game brings a slew of fixes. More importantly, though, it brings a number of new gameplay features.
Heroes and Castles 2.0 introduces a new single-player mode called Siege Mode. This new mode is so named since it essentially lets you play as the evil side and siege the hero side's castle.
Given that the game now allows you to cross over to the dark side, it might as well let you play a game of good versus evil with other players, right?

Well, that's exactly what the game's new competitive multiplayer mode is all about. In this other new mode, you can compete with another Heroes and Castles player, with one of you playing as the good side and the other as the evil side.
Apart from the two game modes, Heroes and Castles 2.0 also introduces two new heroes, namely, the Elven Ranger and the Mage.
The former wields a long-range bow and summons a giant Treeman as his special unit. The latter, on the other hand, casts magic spells and summons an armored turtle-like native warrior as his special unit.
As for the already existing heroes in Heroes and Castles, each of them gets to have new alternate skins. Just tap on a hero to cycle through his available skins.
Compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad running iOS 4.3 or later, Heroes and Castles 2.0 is available now in the App Store as a free update or as a new $1.99 download.
