Instashare Goes Universal To Let You Natively Share Files Between Your iPad And Mac
February 24, 2013
Well, that was quick. Less than a week after its release as an app optimized for iPhone and iPod touch only, Instashare has now been optimized for iPad as well.
Thanks to its first ever update, Instashare is now a universal app. What's more, the update brings landscape mode for previews as well as bug fixes and performance improvements.
Instashare is an aptly named utility that lets you instantly share files between your iDevice and your Mac. In her review of the app here on AppAdvice, Christine notes that Instashare is a cinch to use.
Indeed, the basic sharing process offered by Instashare is quite simple. Once you've connected Instashare on your iDevice with the Mac companion app, sharing is just a matter of dragging and dropping files.

One nice thing about Instashare is that it really doesn't require an Internet connection. You can just use local Wi-Fi or Bluetooth to transfer files.
In addition, you can transfer files of any file type from your Mac to your iDevice, and vice versa. Files received by your Mac appear on the Downloads folder, while those received by your iDevice can be found in Instashare's file list.
Compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad running iOS 5.0 or later, Instashare is available in the App Store as a free, ad-supported app. You can turn off the banner ads in the app through a $0.99 in-app purchase.
If, for some reason, you'd rather bump than drag and drop when sharing files between your iDevice and desktop, check out the recently updated Bump.
