Metal Slug 2 Runs And Guns To The App Store With New Slugs, Weapons And More
February 7, 2013
SNK Playmore must have its own weird way of counting. First, the developer behind the classic Metal Slug franchise released Metal Slug 3 on iOS in July last year. Then, in December, it released the iOS port of Metal Slug 1. And just now, it has released the intermediate installment, Metal Slug 2.
But no matter. What matters is that the first three titles in the popular run-and-gun arcade shooter series are now available on iOS.
As in Metal Slug 1 and 3, you're basically tasked to get in the way of General Morden's evil plans in Metal Slug 2. And just like Metal Slug 1 and 3, Metal Slug 2 is billed as not only a perfect port of the original arcade game.
Apart from its classic Arcade Mode, Metal Slug 2 includes a Mission Mode. Mission Mode lets you choose in which stages to play. This allows you to play to your heart's content in your favorite stages or to train harder in the particularly difficult stages.
Of course, Metal Slug 2 wouldn't be a Metal Slug title if not for its arsenal of weapons and slugs, which it has in spades. In fact, Metal Slug 2 promises new weapons such as the "Laser Shot" and "Flame Bottles." It also boasts new slug vehicles such as the "Slugnoid" (bipedal tank), the "Slug Flyer" (fighter plane), and the "Camel Slug" (a camel equipped with a Vulcan Cannon).
Metal Slug 2 also features two new playable characters named Eri and Fio. Game Center integration and Bluetooth cooperative gameplay are also supported in the newly released game.
Compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad running iOS 4.3 or later, Metal Slug 2 is available now in the App Store for $3.99. Metal Slug 1 and Metal Slug 3 are each available, also in the App Store, for the same price.
