Just Listen To Your Favorite Television Shows With The Updated SlingPlayer Apps

Since I finally found the perfect car mount for my iPad mini last year, I’ll admit to watching my fair share of live TV programs while driving thanks to my Slingbox and the companion iOS apps.
Version 2.2 of SlingPlayer brings a very nice new feature that should save on bandwidth costs and help keep my eyes on the road. Users with a Slingbox 500, PRO-HD, or SOLO can now activate the audio mode to only listen to their favorite TV shows. The mode will be available soon for Slingbox 350 owners.
The audio mode is found in the Quality tab. When selected, the screen goes black while the television audio continues to play. I’m very interested to see how much this new mode will cut down on my sometimes massive data charges.
And along with additional localization support, the update contains the usual slate of bug fixes.
SlingPlayer for the iPhone and SlingPlayer for the iPad are available to download in the App Store now. Each app costs $14.99.
While I’d like to see Sling offer a universal app instead of forcing users to purchase two separate programs for an iPad and iPhone, the SlingPlayer experience is top notch on iOS devices.
