Rovio Releases First Gameplay Trailer For The Croods
March 8, 2013
A week ago, we reported that Angry Birds creator Rovio is set to launch a new game called The Croods. Back then, we had only a teaser video from Rovio to show you. But now, we have our first official trailer featuring actual gameplay footage from the game.
As noted by Bryan last week, The Croods is a Rovio game that "has absolutely nothing to do with fowl." It's not based on the original Angry Birds, like all of the other Angry Birds games and Bad Piggies. Nor is it based on an older game, like Amazing Alex. Rather, it's based on the upcoming DreamWorks computer animated film of the same name.
But perhaps more importantly, it seems that The Croods is not a physics-based puzzle game, like every other Rovio game so far. As shown in the video below, The Croods appears to be a building and resource management game. Take a look:

Rovio also has the following brief description for The Croods:
Meet the world’s first modern family: The Croods! These cavemen are breaking out of the Stone Age with the use of a new r-evolutionary tool: the IDEA! The Croods will Hunt & Gather their way through spectacular new landscapes as they tame fantastic and never-seen-before creatures. Help The Croods survive the wild … and each other!Rovio's The Croods is set to be released in the App Store on Thursday, March 14, a week before DreamWorks' "The Croods" opens in theaters. Of course, this isn't the first game to come out of a collaboration between Rovio and a film studio. The first was Angry Birds Rio, which was developed by Rovio with 20th Century Fox. Also, there's Angry Birds Star Wars, which Rovio produced in conjunction with LucasArts.
