Shelf Control: Read Your E-Books And Web Texts All In One Place With dotdotdot

Have you ever wished you could do all of your digital long-form reading in just one app? If yes, then read on to find out what that single app is in this week's edition of Shelf Control.
Without further ado, the app in question is dotdotdot Reader, or dotdotdot for short.
As mentioned, dotdotdot is aimed at digital long-form reading. And by digital long-form reading, I mean reading that involves e-books and Web texts.
Perhaps you tend to read e-books with iBooks, Kobo, or Readmill and read Web texts with Instapaper, Pocket, or Readability. Well, you can now read e-books and Web texts with dotdotdot and dotdotdot alone.
The app lets you easily import your DRM-free ePub e-books from your Dropbox account.
As for Web texts, such as blog posts or articles, dotdotdot lets you easily add them using its built-in bookmarklet. What's more, as in the aforementioned read-later apps, Web texts are automatically stripped of their extraneous elements for your reading pleasure.

The app also offers a social networking layer that lets you follow and collaborate with other users on your texts. With this, you can see what others are reading and commenting on just as they can see what you're reading and commenting on.
But whether you take advantage of the app's social features or not, you get to keep an archive of your personal long-form reading with dotdotdot. This archive can even be searched for your highlights as well as tagged and sorted to suit your preference.
Compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad running iOS 5.0 or later, dotdotdot Reader is available in the App Store for free.
In keeping with its name, there's more to come in dotdotdot. The app is currently in its beta phase. So, expect to encounter a few hiccups and shortcomings here and there. Rest assured that the development team behind the app is working to make dotdotdot your go-to app for long-form reading.
