Twitter Finally Updates Its Native Mac Client With Retina Support And More

April 25, 2013
The long-suffering official Twitter client for Mac has just been updated with a slate of new improvements. Version 2.2 of the app is easily highlighted by support for the Retina display of the newest MacBook Pros. The update also makes it much easier to share photos. Users can click on the camera icon on the lower corner of the tweet composition box to pick an image. Photos can also still be dragged and dropped from the desktop. And in addition to English, the app can now support 14 new languages: Dutch, French, German, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Malay, Portuguese, Russian, Simplified Chinese, Spanish, Traditional Chinese, and Turkish. You can download the updated version directly from the Mac App Store for free. The iOS version of the software was last updated in early April and was highlighted by the ability to launch or download your favorite apps directly from tweets . That version can be downloaded in the App Store for free. I’m glad to see Twitter finally caring enough about the Mac client for this update. Hopefully, it will easily become a free alternative to the pricey, but spectacular, Tweetbot.
