Apple's 50 Billion App Downloads Countdown Moves To Apple.com

May 10, 2013
Apple has moved its countdown to the App Store's 50 billionth app download to the main page at Apple.com. Here, an iPad mini displays a series of images, each of which are accompanied by an associated fact concerning the number 50 billion (as pictured above). For example, an outer-space image of our own planet notes that:
With 50 billion steps, you could walk around the earth more than 800 times.
As a reminder, the person who downloads the 50 billionth app will be awarded a $10,000 iTunes Gift Card. In addition, each one of the next 50 customers will be awarded $500 Gift Cards. Apple notes in the terms and conditions for the competition:
The 50 Billion Apps Countdown Promotion is open to entrants who are 13 years of age or older (or the minimum age required by your country) at time of entry, and are located in a participating country. Void where prohibited. Limit 25 entries per person per day. No purchase necessary. This contest ends after the download of the 50,000,000,050th app.
Check out either the App Store or Apple's main page in order to keep up to date with the competition's progress. Good luck!
